My Journey

I was introduced to yoga in my early 30s. I was curious why I felt calmer and more able to deal with the challenges of being a first-time mother after a 1 hour class. What was it about moving through a series of poses that impacted my brain? My nervous system? My curiosity was sparked! I became a certified yoga teacher and started to understand more about the connection between movement, breath, and the nervous system. It was during those years of exploration about how to ease the mind and reduce stress that a friend introduced me to TRE. She taught me the exercises that ignited tremoring in my body and I was left, after practicing for 15 minutes, with a sense of release followed by calm. But I was also so intrigued: what did I just experience? Why did I have a sense of openness afterwards? Beginning in 2023, I became certified in TRE as well as Somatic Movement, since they both work synergistically to help the body find balance and bring a sense of wellbeing.

Today I view yoga, TRE, and Somatic Movement as a path to health and healing in the body and the spirit. I’m passionate about creating a pathway to ease the mind through these somatic practices.

I live in Wooster, OH, with my husband, two children, and two spoiled cats. In my spare time, I operate a fiber arts studio out of my home and sell products primarily through my Etsy page.

Somatic Movement

TRE is for you if…

…your body feels stuck in stress mode, holding on to tension that deep breaths or rest can’t release. Maybe you notice tight shoulders, a heavy chest, or a restless energy that never quite settles. Through gentle movements that invite natural tremors, TRE helps your nervous system regulate itself in a safe, effective way—letting your body unwind and restore balance. The result is a calmer mind, a more relaxed body, and a sense of ease you can carry into daily life.

TRE®

Tension, Stress and Trauma Releasing Exercises is an innovative series of simple movements and stretches which assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma by inducing a gentle muscular shaking response. This natural response generally feels pleasant and soothing, and after doing TRE many people report feelings of peace and wellbeing.

TRE was developed by Dr. David Berceli, Ph.D., while he was working as a trauma therapist in the Middle East and Africa. You can read more about his story and the development of TRE at his website.

With regular practice of TRE, in typically less than three months the physiology of the body can be returned to balance, and the immune system returned to normal functioning, with benefits including:

Somatic Movement is for you if…

…you feel trapped in habitual patterns of tension, stiffness, or lingering pain. This gentle practice helps you bring awareness to how your body moves, so you can release the tightness that keeps stress and discomfort locked in place. Instead of forcing or pushing, somatic movement invites ease, calm, and natural pain relief.

Somatic Movement

A physical movement that’s practiced consciously with the intention of focusing on the internal experience of the movement.

The term “Somatics” was coined by professor and theorist Thomas Hanna in 1976 and it has come to represent a field of study and bodywork that foregrounds the internal physical sensations, perceptions, and experiences of the body.

Somatic movement sessions allow you to reconnect with your body through movement that is performed consciously, with complete internal focus and attention. Somatics uses specialized techniques that engage the nervous system in an active learning process. The exercises teach the nervous system how to release chronic muscle tension and stand and move in natural, efficient ways so that you aren’t putting yourself in pain or doing damage to your body.
